Hoy, con el corazón lleno de gratitud y una profunda conciencia del momento histórico que vivimos, quiero invitarles a detenernos para celebrar y reconocer la transformación que nuestra organización ha experimentado bajo el liderazgo de Nicole Martin. Durante dos años y medio como Directora Ejecutiva de Vita-Activa.Org, Nicole no solo guió nuestra comunidad con visión y fortaleza, sino que también consolidó un modelo organizacional feminista, resiliente y profundamente alineado con nuestros valores de justicia y equidad.
Es imposible ignorar el contexto global y regional que enmarca nuestro cambio de dirección. La intensificación del autoritarismo en América Latina y en el mundo ha traído consigo desafíos que afectan profundamente los derechos humanos, la libertad de expresión y el bienestar de nuestras comunidades. Periodistas y activistas enfrentan niveles alarmantes de vigilancia, acoso digital y violencia amplificada por herramientas impulsadas por inteligencia artificial, especialmente dirigidas hacia mujeres y personas LGBTIQ+.
En este panorama sombrío, nuestra misión en Vita Activa se vuelve más necesaria y relevante que nunca. Nicole ha fortalecido las bases de nuestra organización para enfrentar estos desafíos: desde liderar con perspectiva feminista hasta construir estructuras que priorizan la participación horizontal y la transparencia. Su trabajo nos ha preparado para continuar ofreciendo primeros auxilios psicológicos y digitales, y para ser fuente de esperanza y acción en un mundo que clama por cuidados y empatía frente al dolor y las violencias.
Es un cierre de capítulo que también abre nuevas puertas. Regreso a encabezar la Dirección Ejecutiva de nuestra organización lista, comprometida y fortalecida para enfrentar los retos que nos esperan. Today, with hearts full of gratitude and a profound awareness of the historical moment we are living, I invite you to pause and join me in celebrating and acknowledging the transformation our organization has undergone under the leadership of Nicole Martin. Over two and a half years as Executive Director of Vita-Activa.Org, Nicole not only guided our community with vision and strength but also solidified a feminist, resilient organizational model deeply aligned with our values of justice and equity.
It is impossible to overlook the global and regional context framing this farewell. The intensification of authoritarianism in Latin America and beyond has brought challenges that profoundly affect human rights, freedom of expression, and the well-being of our communities. Journalists and activists are facing alarming levels of surveillance, digital harassment, and violence amplified by AI-driven tools, especially targeting women and LGBTIQ+ individuals.
In such a daunting landscape, our mission at Vita Activa becomes more necessary and relevant than ever. Nicole has strengthened the foundations of our organization to confront these challenges: from leading with a feminist perspective to building structures that prioritize horizontal participation and transparency. Her work has prepared us to continue offering psychological and digital first aid and to remain a beacon of hope and action in a world yearning for care and empathy in the face of violence and harm.
It is the closing of a chapter that also opens new doors. I return to lead our organization as Executive Director, ready, committed, and strengthened to face the challenges ahead.
